Chances are though that you are in a bind. If you have to upgrade to a more current version, there is a problem with the data base - it is not compatible as a direct upgrade. Restore the original data file allowing it to be upgraded, make a back up and save it. Then do that again for another year version that is years newer. Or you can contact intuit data services and for a fee they will do it. I have heard that if you buy the new version from intuit, they will do it for free. This sounds like a real mess. Plus, if the database structure cannot be upgraded to a newer version of QuickBooks Desktop such as the current or even , that's another significant obstacle to making this work. Even if I can convince the user to purchase the upgrade, it looks like a subscription model product now, rather than the perpetual license single purchase that was the QB framework.

My husband just got a new computer and we need to move QuickbooksPro from the old one which is barely functional at this point.
